Our Learning CentersOur community partners, in discussions with parents and traditional leaders, identified expanding educational opportunities as their highest priority. Unfortunately, there are not enough schools in the area and most face significant operational challenges. To help more children attend school, and receive a quality education, we built and operate two early childhood learning centers. A team of six teachers are educating 400 children from pre-K through third grade. Some teachers are graduates of our scholarship program and all were locally raised and able to teach bilingually.
We recently opened the Tahama Learning Center to expand educational opportunities, as well as our food security and environmental education programs. |

Community EngagementCommunity members form Parent Teachers Associations, to learn about and provide advice. At the end of each term, family members gather together to hear school presentations from students and to see the award ceremony. The PTA and families generously volunteer to support school construction, upkeep, and
planting of school gardens. |

Student Stories:
HadijaHadija is four years old, and her mom shares that she already “wants to become a teacher.” At the Tahama Learning Center, Hadija will have wonderful teacher mentors to learn from, as most of our teachers are graduates of our scholarship program and all were born and live locally.

AbibaAbiba is 5 years old and, “wants to meet new friends,” when she begins her first year of school at the new Tahama Learning Center. Abiba and other children at Tahama will receive school supplies, a daily lunch to help reduce malnutrition, and a school uniform sewn by our vocational training graduates.

AbdulAbdul is 5 years old and when asked why he wants to go to school, he said, “I want to learn.” Engage Globally hopes to provide Abdul with the opportunity to attend our new Tahama Learning Center this year.
