About the Program

 When a student completes their studies at our Learning Centers, they take exams to see if they can continue their education at private schools in the closest city. Our partners find placements for each student after meeting with both the children and their families to discuss their goals. Students then continue their education until they take national exams and apply to high school or join our vocational training program. If students pass high school entrance exams, we support their attendance at the residential high school where they are assigned by the Ghanaian education service.  All students' progress is evaluated annually for attendance, grades, and annual test results. Graduates of high school, like Suale pictured left receiving a student leadership award, are often hired as teachers and staff in our programs.​​

Program Growth

Currently, 35 students are attending private schools and 10 are enrolled in public high schools. Each year, new students will join the scholarship program after they graduate from our early childhood learning centers. For each student in the scholarship program, Engage Globally provides registration fees, testing fees, a bicycle or other transportation costs, books and school supplies, uniforms, and shoes. With the rising food shortages, we also seek to provide food stipends. The average annual cost of this program ranges from $400 per student in upper primary school to $800 per student for high schools. community Engagement

Students in the scholarship program engage in a variety of service projects to support their communities and to strengthen their teamwork and professional skills. Students assist with tutoring younger youth and with youth soccer programs. Others were trained as public health educators to share the importance of hand washing with their communities.

Students also learn about environmental conservation and engage with nature through tree planting and community clean-up projects. In the future, we hope students can return to visit Mole National Park to learn about Ghanaian animals and wildlife conservation.

Nurudeen

Salifu, a youth scholarship student, said, “l want to be a nurse in the future so if my family member falls sick, I can help to cure the sickness.”
